Move over Girls Aloud!
A Special Party Welcome
Your VIP guests will arrive in style, walking up on a red carpet and entering through a star-filled doorway.
Decorating Tips:
Hang plenty of stars from the ceiling using fishing line. Add steamers, balloons, etc. Using fairy lights (Christmas tree lights), disco balls also adds to the atmosphere. Create a stage by making a backdrop on the wall with white butcher paper or a white sheet ? remember you can never have too much glitter. Outline the edges of the paper with streamers and white Christmas lights and hang more stars. If your pop star party is an ?X-Factor? type party, You may also want to decorate a "Judges Table" A fun addition...to set the scene when welcoming your guests in a star-studded style is by creating a red carpet entrance. This can be created using butchers paper or fabric leading up to the door. This is a small addition that can really add to your daughter?s party.
X-FACTOR CONTEST
This is a great, fun party for all ages and it may be advisable to let the guests know before hand the theme allowing them to practise their solo performance, perfect their dance moves or create a group. Knowing before hand also allows you to make sure that you have the music required. If the performers haven't prepared an act before the party, allow them to look over the Karaoke CD's and decide if they are performing in duets etc. Then let them work together to create some fun choreography and practice if possible.
As the guests start arriving, welcome them on the red carpet. Have family and/or friends pretend to be paparazzi taking photos and fans asking for autographs.
Invite them into their dressing room where the party bags have been set up. Each guest should be given a contestant number.
It's Showtime!
Once the makeover is complete, and you have a room filled with pop stars ready to show their talents...it's time for the show!
Remembering that this is a birthday party after all, we suggest that you coordinate your ?X-FACTOR? competition in a positive manner, with many winners in different categories. Best stage presence, great vocals, super choreography, awesome costume, funniest act etc. Allow the kids to work in duets or groups to accommodate the shy performers. Lip syncing should be allowed. Have three adults to be the judges.
Everyone will take their turns and then the winners will be announced - all with plenty of applause of course!
Items you may need for and ?X-FACTOR?/POP STAR party:
Karaoke CD's
CD player
Camera
Paper, markers and string for contestant numbers
Adults or older teens to be the judges
Trophies or Prizes
THE ?X-FACTOR? POP STAR CONTEST BIRTHDAY PARTY TIPS:
1. Be sure you are completely familiar with the electrical equipment before
the party, so that the kids don't have to wait patiently.
2. If guests choose not to perform, they can help with costumes, stage help etc. Everyone has a special gift!
3. Do not let kids be judges. Even the nicest children can unintentionally hurt someone's feelings.
4. Ask an adult helper to video the performances AND take plenty of pictures.
PARTY INSTRUCTIONS
1. Before you get started, it is probably a good idea to protect the working surface to be used. We have supplied you with a plastic pink table cover for this purpose. Each guest will need a wet cloth/sponge for applying the tattoos, and it is always a good idea to ensure that a couple of sheets of kitchen towel are in easy reach for the guests as they start the transformation into pop stars! A few small mirrors on the table will also be very handy.
2. Each party guest should be given a 'Glitter and Jewels Makeup Kit'. Please follow the instructions on the back of the packaging when using this kit.
3. As illustrated on the packaging there are endless combinations of designs that can be applied using the kit, with party guests either applying the makeup on themselves or on each other.
4. Once the make up has been applied to the body it is time for the guests to turn their attention to their nails! Each guest has their own nail polish to apply as well as nail tattoos to finish the effect. Best to give the nail polish a good shake before using and make sure the nail polish has fully dried before applying the nail tattoos. The following relates to the nail tattoos:
IMPORTANT
i. Have a friend help applying the tattoo
ii. If any allergenic reaction occurs, cease use immediately
APPLYING TATTOO
i. Wrap tattoo around your nail for sizing and cut to fit
ii. Remove the clear top sheet. Place the tattoo face down on your nail and press firmly.
iii. Wet back of tattoo thoroughly with a damp sponge or cloth
iv. Wait 30 seconds, then slide off paper backing
v. Rinse the tattoo gently with water, then let dry.
5. To complete the transformation each guest is supplied with a wig!
6. Now, the divas are ready for their microphones and guitars.
7. Let the music begin
Preparing the Party Bags
Before the party write a party guests name onto each party bag. There are many ways you could do this including having the party girl write each guests name and special message in the heart printed on the bag. This allows the party girl to feel she has contributed to the party preparation.
Each guest should leave the party with a Party Bag containing:
. Any remaining makeup from the 'Glitter and Jewels Makeup Kit'
. Any remaining nail polish and nail tattoos
. Their wig!
In order to save a mad panic toward the end of the party, once the guests have finished using their makeup and tattoos, encourage each guest to put whatever is left over straight into their party bag. If they have half used tubes it may be an idea to give each guest a plastic bag before they use the party bag!
You can add anything else you have to the party bag.
ADDITIONAL POP STAR PARTY ACTIVITIES
Obviously, the focus of this party will be the singing, dancing etc.
However, you may want to plan a few additional activities especially
for the guests who are too shy to perform.
Pi?ata
After the contest is complete play this traditional party game.
Fill pi?ata with candy, tattoos and glow items for extra fun!
Musical Microphone
Supplies:
-pink microphone (supplied in party kit)
- rocking music
Seat all party guests in a circle, and put on some music. Pass around the microphone while music plays. When you stop the music, player holding the microphone has to sing a short song. Play until everyone?s had a chance to sing.
Musical Dress-up Music stars love dressing up?sometimes even ten times during just one performance! Everyone gets to glam it up in this silly game.
Supplies:
- 2 decorated boxes filled with clothing, accessories and costume items (the more outrageous, the better; big clothes too!)
- masking tape and rocking music
Fill decorated boxes with fun and funky rock star wardrobes. Place boxes on opposite ends of a room, and use masking tape to mark a circle in centre of floor. Ask everyone to walk around the circle while the stereo plays a rocking tune. When you stop the music, players must rush to 1 of the boxes and put on 1 dress-up item. Continue until all items are gone. Don?t forget to take loads of photos.
Lip Sync Contest Have party guests perform in front of your crowd. Award prizes for most real, most brave and silliest performances (especially fun to do after the ?Musical Dress-up?)
Limbo Limelight Most performers love to be in the limelight no matter what. Doing the limbo is no exception!
Supplies:
- fun limbo music
- long, light stick
Put on some music and let everybody do the limbo. Everyone takes turns bending over backward and passing under the stick. If they bump the stick or touch the ground with anything but their feet, they step out of the game and cheer on the sidelines. After all players have a turn, the stick is lowered and everyone tries again. Continue to lower the stick each round until there?s only 1 player left.
You can also have a POP STAR PARTY with a movie theme. All the games suggested can be adapted to fit in with your chosen theme. Listed below are some High School Musical Birthday Party Games
SEARCH FOR THE MOBILE PHONES: - Mrs. Darbus has hidden everyone's mobile phones. The kids have to find them! Before the party hide several pictures of mobile phones or if you wanted to add to your party bag some plastic, candy filled or lip gloss cell phones. Write clues using the movie as hints. (You'll find a fun quiz and
other ideas that may help on the High School Musical Website.)
When it's time to play, the kids can either all work as a team or divide them into smaller groups to answer all of the clues and find the mobile phones.
NAME THAT TUNE: - Before the party prepare a list of High School Musical songs. Have the guests pull a song out of the bag and then take turns in humming the first few notes. Can the other players guess which song it is?
Keep adding notes, or even words as additional clues when necessary. This can either be played as a group or to be more competitive divide the guests into teams. This game can also be played with other popular songs.
WHO SAID IT: - Before the party; write down several lines from the movie with the character that said it, on slips of paper. The players take turns selecting
a slip of paper form a basket. Then, they'll say the quote aloud and see
who can guess the character from the movie that belongs to that quote
FASHION RELAY: - POP STARS certainly have their own special style and the party girls will too with this silly relay race.
Before the party fill shopping bags (one per team) with a large shirt, elastic waist skirt, hat, scarves, sunglasses, plastic bead necklace etc.
Divide the players into teams. Place the bags at one end of the room. When you say "go" one player from each team runs to their bag, puts on ALL of the items, runs back to the next team mate, then takes them ALL off and hands to next player. The next player repeats this and so on until all of the players have had a turn.
Smile for the Camera!
Be sure to take lots of pictures. You and your child will want to remember this special party. A helpful hint: Order extra prints and send them to the parents afterward. Remember, it's not necessary to have everyone in each picture. Focus on small groups and avoid posing all the photos. Candids capture the laughter best!
